The school's rugby league team recently achieved a notable feat after they were crowned Riverina Champions in the PSSA Classic Shield competition.
The team began their quest for the title earlier in the year when they took part in the Leeton-Narrandera PSSA Rugby League Gala Day with other local schools.
In the first game LPS defeated Leeton Small Schools 46-0, while Parkview Public School defeated Narrandera Public School.
The wins from the two Leeton schools had them match up against each other in the LNPSSA grand final, which LPS won convincingly 32-4.
This victory ensured they retained the Chris George Shield, as well as advancing further in the state-wide Classic Shield competition.
In the fourth round Leeton Public School defeated Temora in a close and hard-fought game, with the final score being 6-0.
The last two rounds were then played at Leeton's own town ovals complex.
Leeton Public School played their round five match against Gundagai where they were again victorious 18-4.
Then after a short 30-minute break, they faced a well-drilled and agile Griffith Public team, who had recently taken out the Mortimer Shield.
It was always going to be a tough match, with both teams hungry for victory, especially with Griffith playing their first and only game for the day against a battle-weary LPS team.
Griffith Public found the try line first, but from then on it was try-for-try, which ultimately led to a draw.
Stress levels were tested and LPS had to dig deep to go in to extra time.

LPS had first possession from the kick off and, with a line break and a few quick runs, managed to gain some metres to put them in a great position and ultimately take the game in golden point 20-16.
This victory made LPS the winner for the Riverina region and they now progress to the state quarter finals where the last remaining teams from each region will play off.
These regions include North Coast, Hunter, South Coast, North West, Sydney North, Western and Sydney East/Sydney South West/Sydney West.
Leeton Public's next opposition will be the western region champions in Forbes Public School with a date yet to be set.
