The NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association has called on MLHD to employ an extra emergency department nurse at the hospital, but said its pleas had so far gone unanswered.
The union has said security concerns at the hospital weren't being addressed.
However, MLHD director of clinical operations Carla Bailey said the organisation was currently conducting a review of security at the hospital.
"A review of security at Leeton Hospital is underway and a pilot of new lock down procedures will be trialled at Leeton hospital in October," she said.

"We are working with Leeton hospital nursing and security staff and the NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association to address their concerns.
"Over the past year, Leeton hospital has also appointed three new nurses.
"We are meeting with Leeton nurses to gain their feedback and input."
Meanwhile, Leeton shire mayor Paul Maytom has continued to raise his own concerns about where the hospital is placed at last week's ordinary Leeton Shire Council meeting.

"To tell you the truth I am fed up with it ... we have so many meetings about this and it never seems to go anywhere," he told the meeting.
Councillor Maytom's main concerns centre on the lack of an on-call doctor at the hospital at vital times, as well as whether or not the operating theatre will ever be opened for use again.
MLHD is currently conducting a full needs analysis of the hospital about what is needed at the facility and, possibly, what isn't.
"I hope they talk to the right people and fully understand what our community feel about the hospital," Cr Maytom.
"I'm not having a go at MLHD, but I am frustrated.
"I do think we as a community ... should have a say in this whole process."
