While it may seem a little way in the distance, Australia Day is fast approaching and, with that, comes the opportunity to recognise all that is good about the Leeton shire community.
Nominations for the 2020 Australia Day ceremony are now open and residents are being encouraged to nominate those within the shire who are worthy of such an honour.
The Leeton Australia Day Committee is seeking assistance in identifying those who go above and beyond for the community, so they can receive formal gratitude for the important place they hold in the community.
Leeton Australia Day committee chairman George Weston said there were many worthy recipients in the community, but they can't be recognised unless someone nominates them.

"We all know someone who goes above and beyond for their community, group or organisation," councillor Weston said.
"So, this is the perfect opportunity to recognise those individuals among us and nominate them for an award."
The guidelines for are straightforward, with the process for nomination being simplified to online application or a hard copy paper form upon request.
"Many quiet achievers do so much to improve the lives of those around them for no other reason than a willingness to help," Cr Weston said.
"There are also those who display determination and dedication, excelling in their chosen area.
"These individuals, groups or organisations are more than worthy to receive a vote of thanks, and what better way to do this then on Australia Day."
Nominations can be lodged online at http://bit.ly/Nominate2705 or by completing a hard copy paper form, which is available upon request from Leeton Shire Council.
Nominations close on December 13.
