As part of the town's official Australia Day festivities in Mountford Park, a citizenship ceremony took place before the crowd that was gathered.
Several children were among the group, with the majority of the new residents coming from the Philippines, but also Britain, Thailand, Pakistan and India.
Mayor Paul Maytom presided over the ceremony and said citizenship was the common bond shared among all.
"(This is) made meaningful because it embraces the rights and responsibilities of all people," he said.
