On Friday Coronavirus was declared a global health emergency by the World Health Organisation.
Mr Hunt said many schools in the region were doing the same when it came to excursions, with the Department of Education also requesting students who have recently been to China stay home for a fortnight.
"There is no current cases of Coronavirus in Wollongong, but we didn't want to risk it, particularly being a boarding school where (illness) can spread very quickly," he said.

"The university has been really great. They've said the would allow us to reschedule, so hopefully we can go there later in the year."
On Friday morning there were nine confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Australia, with the death toll reaching more than 200 in China.
