A slow moving trough across western NSW is expected to hit the MIA on Wednesday, with Leeton predicted to receive between 30 and 60 millimetres of rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday with a possibility of thunderstorms, potentially delivering a month's worth of rain to the city within the span of 48 hours.
The average amount of rainfall during the month of March recorded at the Yanco Agricultural Institute is 32.2mm.
Griffith and Coleambally are also due to receive rainfall, with Griffith due to receive between 60 and 100mm of rain over the two days, while Coleambally is due to receive a similar amount to Leeton.

The Bureau has issued a severe weather warning for the Riverina, with heavy rainfall over elevated parts of the area potentially resulting in localised landslips.
A initial flood watch has also been issued by the State Emergency Service for potential minor flooding in areas along Mirrool Creek and low-lying areas along the Murrumbidgee River.
It is recommended to livestock and equipment is moved away from flood-prone paddocks and community members monitor weather forecasts and warnings over the coming days if flooding develops.
The rain is due to add to totals seen during February - with a total of 29.6mm recorded across the month in what was the highest total recorded since 2013.
