MURRUMBIDGEE'S rural crime investigators have nabbed a man for allegedly stealing diesel from a Whitton property.

The 48-year-old man was charged with the theft of the diesel, which took place at a rural property near Whitton during the early hours of April 9.
Police said the man was charged with aggravated trespass in company (rural industry) and stealing diesel.

Investigations into the matter identified the male and two other persons entering the property before stealing the diesel from an irrigation bore pump diesel tank.
Murrumbidgee rural crime investigators have thanked the community for providing information and encouraged residents to continue to report all rural crime.
Officers also urged property owners to remain vigilant of suspicious activity around farmland and to speak to neighbours as part of that process.
Other tips for rural property owners:
- Ensure the basic security measures are in place such as; locking gates, machinery sheds and fuel tanks.
- Record accurate numbers in livestock and check livestock regularly.
- Ensure fences are stock proof and consider permanent identification of all livestock including ear marks and branding.
- Police recommend having security and biosecurity signage on the entry and exits of the property including boundary fences.
