The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) volunteers in Leeton are thrilled to soon be receiving their first ever RRT barbecue trailer.
The brand-new trailer will go on to serve delicious meals and refreshment to emergency service personnel, the youth, the homeless and those living with health impairments or disabilities in the Leeton community and beyond.
A team of willing RRT volunteers are already looking forward to putting the trailer into good use, and will be cooking up a storm at the Leeton Community Care Development (LCCD) event on August 8 at Gossamer Street Park.
The day sets out to bring a smile to all who attend and offer support to those who are in need during this challenging time.
Members of the Leeton Shire Council along with NSW Health and Police have endorsed the upcoming event for its very worthy cause and RRT's strict procedures in place that meet the current government health regulations surrounding COVID-19.
Hot meals will be handed out to the attendees by our volunteers, all whilst maintaining social distancing and upholding strict guidelines.
The Leeton Community Op Shop will also be providing other means of support at the event.
RRT understands that many members of the community are feeling the financial pressure and hardship brought about by the current global pandemic, and we've been humbled to support those impacted in a small way.
We are grateful for the support of LCCD's chairwoman, Kim Doss, and the LCCD board for pulling together this worthwhile event for the community to enjoy.
We are also grateful for all that the Leeton Connects with Kindness team have been doing during this challenging time for the community, particularly for Ron Arel whose dedication and generosity serves the community day in, day out.
RRT volunteers are ambassadors of good will - working toward the greater good while treating people from all walks of life with equal consideration and respect. It's all about 'Compassion In Action'.
We welcome you to join the upcoming event to enjoy a famous RRT barbecue, and to meet the RRT team!
