While disappointed the school could not host its traditional Education Week Open Days and events due to COVID-19 restrictions, there was still a way for parents to take part.
The innovation of virtual open days via Zoom worked brilliantly for the school, with a significant portion of the community able to log in and interact live with the classrooms.
Parents were able to engage with children in vast range of learning activities, including literacy, numeracy and STEM.
Education Week also had Parkview Public host two live events via Facebook, including a livestream of the stage three "stomp rocket launch" and the Education Week assembly livestream, with over 900 views of these two events.
With such success, this strategy is certainly an engagement tool the school will continue to utilise in the future.
During the Education Week awards assembly, the school took the opportunity to honour a number of people in the community who have made significant contributions over a long period of time.
This year's recipients were:
Student leadership awards: Jy Mawer, Ruby Meline, Benji Roden and Maylee Clancy
"All four of our student leaders have displayed great leadership, responsibility and resilience during a year unlike any other experienced by learners at Parkview Public School," principal Travis Irvin said.
"The school community is proud of the way Jy, Ruby, Benji and Maylee have led the school and displayed great adaptability when leading the student body and representing the school."
Staff recognition award Anna Celi
"Mrs Celi has worked in a range of student welfare and wellbeing roles at Parkview PS for the best part of the last decade," Mr Irvin said.
"Her care, commitment and compassion for the Parkview community is amazing and we appreciate everything she does for our children.
"Words can't adequately describe the vital role (she) plays in our community."
Community appreciation award Kylie Bowyer
Mrs Bowyer has filled a significant range of volunteer and P&C roles during her nine year association with the school, most recently for more than two years in a part-time capacity in the canteen.
She is a long-standing P&C member and always volunteers to assist where she can around the school.
"We really appreciate Kylie's on-going contributions to the school," Mr Irvin said.
