A 25-YEAR-OLD originally wanted by police for questioning relating to an alleged assault in Whitton has been charged with drink driving.

The man and his friend were at a licensed premises in Whitton on Saturday, September 5.
Another group of people, including a 23-year-old man were also at this location at the same time.
A brief conversation was had between the two groups, with the older man and his friend taking offence at something the other group had said.
It is then police allege the situation escalated quickly and the 23-year-old man was punched to the head and pinned to the ground.

The alleged victim was able to free himself and get into a car with his friends, with the alleged offender following in another vehicle.
Police were called to Whitton as a result, locating the alleged person of interest behind the wheel of a car.
They spoke to him and he was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.
The 25-year-old was arrested and taken to Leeton police station where a breath analysis returned a positive reading of 0.088. His license was immediately suspended and he was charged with mid-range drink driving.
No charges relating to the alleged earlier incident have been laid.
