A PURSUIT that started in Leeton finished with a highway patrol vehicle allegedly being deliberately crashed into by a male offender on Sunday afternoon.

A 25-year-old man was driving a Mazda utility at the time, which had been reported stolen.
The pursuit started in Leeton, but was stopped due to safety concerns.
The man continued driving towards Wagga, which is where the pursuit picked up again after the vehicle failed to stop about 4.20pm as directed by officers from Southern Region Highway Patrol.
As the utility neared Pine Gully Road, it allegedly deliberately crashed into a fully marked highway patrol vehicle that was parked on the side of the road.

The driver exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Following a foot pursuit, the man was arrested after police used capsicum spray.
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Hospital and upon release, to Wagga police station where he was charged with a revocation of parole warrant and 11 offences:
- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
- Drive motor vehicle menaces another with intent (x3)
- Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously (x3)
- Police pursuit - not stop - drive at speed (x2)
- Never licenced person drive vehicle on road
- Special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence
Police will allege some of the charges relate to incidents that occurred on September 11 and over the weekend.
