The event of both national and cultural significance will be held at West End Sports Stadium on October 7, with the Griffith venue being converted into a 'tennis court stage' for the production.

Manager of Griffith Regional Theatre, Raina Savage, says the once-in-a-lifetime experience will bring the entire community together in an incredible celebration of home-grown talent.

"We really felt the launch needed to be here and the Aboriginal community strongly backed that," Ms Savage said.

"She grew up here, this is where she comes from, this is her original country.

"There will be an amazing performance and people will get a real taste of what's in store for them."

Griffith Regional Theatre managed to secure the highly sought-after World Premiere rights to her unique, inspiring and heart-warming story.

Griffith City Councillor Mike Neville says the event is set to be spectacular.

"I am excited to announce that Evonne and her husband Roger, among other VIPs will be welcomed by this incredible Welcome to Country Red Carpet Premiere Performance," Cr Neville said.

"Unfortunately due to COVID-19 restriction, the welcome ceremony will not be open to the public, however it will be streamed online."

Playwright Andrea James is the mastermind behind the quintessential Australian story, perfectly capturing the story of a Griffith-born girl who dared to dream and became world number one.
