Their Higher School Certificate exams will also be slightly different in line with COVID safe expectations and precautions.
Students must not attend an exam if they are unwell and they will be asked upon arrival if they have any flu-like symptoms or if they should be in self-isolation under direction by NSW Health.
Students displaying flu-like symptoms or who advise they are unwell will be asked to leave the school and arrange to have a COVID-19 test.
Those with a clinical history/known illness that may appear like COVID-19 symptoms should be planning now and speak to their doctor/GP. The GP can provide written assurance - for example a symptom the student presents on a normal basis.
MORE NEWS:
Schools also have to identify an alternate examination centre in the event the school needs to close for a thorough cleaning if a positive COVID case is confirmed effecting school operations.
Leeton High's alternate venue is the Roxy Theatre.
Unless told otherwise, students will always attend all examinations at Leeton High School.
Communications to students during the HSC examination period will be through their school email account in the event of a change of examination venue.
Students will receive a timetable with alternate examination venue information on it.
Year 12 farewell assembly
NEW school guidelines released on September 11 now provide for the conducting of graduation celebrations onsite which include parents/carers.
Please access the following link to view the new guidelines.
Year 12 graduations are momentous occasions for students, parents and carers and school staff. We look forward to acknowledging this very special occasion for our year 12 students on November 12 (the day after HSC examinations conclude) with a farewell assembly.
An invitation will be sent to parents/carers to confirm details in the near future.
Numbers of external visitors attending are limited to ensure compliance with the four-square-metre rule within the COVID-19 safe plan.
Therefore, parents/carers only are able to attend.
New leaders inducted
ON SEPTEMBER 11 our new school leaders for 2020/2021 were inducted into their new roles.
Such moments are certainly mixed with emotion as we farewelled our 2019-20 leadership team with this last official ceremony where the outgoing leaders presented our new leaders with badges and blazers.
A sincere thank you to our outgoing leadership for their steadfast efforts over what has been a really challenging year to date.
Best wishes to Bree McKellar and Reece Grundy our former school captains, Amelie Sachs and Zachary Sharp our former vice-captains and Michael Wang, Cooper Holmes, Jesse Horsfield and Barkat Ali for superbly undertaking their roles.
These young people will certainly make a positive impact and be exemplary role-models in any environment.
R U OK? Day
RECENTLY our dynamic Student Representative Council hosted a free barbecue for students to promote R U OK? Day 2020.
R U OK? Day is an opportunity to remind ourselves to make a connection with the people around us and start a conversation with those who may be struggling.
No-one is expected to be an expert, just a good friend and listener.
These four steps could change someone's life:
1. Ask R U Okay?
2. Listen
3. Encourage Action
4. Check-In
The SRC did an amazing job in following hygiene protocols when cooking and serving the hungry hoards.
