On a hot day, the game was reduced to a 30-over encounter, and after winning the toss and electing to bat, the Colts lost the wicket of Mark Burns (4) in the second over to the bowling of Noah Maybon (1/23).
The loss of the early wicket did little to affect the Colts as the experienced pairing of Matt DelGuzzo, and Hugh Collins were able to guide their side out of a potentially dangerous situation.
Over the next 10 overs, the pair were able to get their side to 53 before Tyler O'Connell (1/42) picked up the wicket of Collins (25) while Sam Alampi (1/19) struck in the next over to remove the dangerous Reece Maguire (1).
DelGuzzo continued to play a steady role in the middle, and alongside Matt Rhodes they were able to set their side course towards a defendable total.
After a 17-run partnership, Rhodes (11) was run out by Jonte Schmetzer while Matt Curry (2) was knocked over by Mathew Axtil (1/9) without troubling the scorers to see the Colts sitting on 5/92 with five overs remaining in their innings.
DelGuzzo's (44) innings came to a close just short of fifty when he was bowled by Blake McDonald (1/17), Cooper Sharman (24*) and Michael Keech (4*) added some quick-fire late runs to see the Colts score 22 runs in the final three overs to finish on 6/127 after 30 overs.
The Ferrets were able to make a decent start to their innings with O'Connell and Axtill able to put on 14 runs for the first wicket, but trouble struck at the fall of the first wicket.
When Axtill (4) was bowled by Michael Keech (1/10) at the end of the fourth over he was quickly followed back to the pavilion by O'Connell (5) and McDonald (0) as they were dismissed in consecutive deliveries by Rob Keech.
Ash Fraser was able to see off the Keech hat-trick delivery, but the reprieve was short-lived.
Rob Keech (3/8) was able to claim the wicket of Frazer (4) in his next over while Maguire claimed the wicket of Dylan McKellar (0) to see the Ferrets sitting on 5/20 after eight overs.
Billy Conroy (2/1) and Maguire (3/1) ended the faint hopes of the Ferrets of making a miraculous turn around with the wickets of Jonte Schmetzer (0), Maybon (5), Dylan Whiteman (0) and Kai Schmetzer (0) to see the Ferrets bowled out for 24 in the 13th over and hand the Colts top spot on the ladder with a 103-run victory.
The Ferrets will look to bounce back when they take on Narrandera next weekend while the Colts take on Yanco.
