Once the upgrade of the facility is completed, the complex will be officially known as the Leeton Regional Aquatic Centre.
The community had been called on to have its say on what the revamped complex should be called, with Leeton Shire Council putting forward several suggestions such as Leeton Memorial Swimming Pool, Leeton Regional Aquatic Centre, Leeton Regional Swimming Centre, Leeton Regional Swimming Pool, Leeton Swimming Pool and Leeton Olympic Pool.
The community also thought the pool could be named after a prominent resident or a name that reflected the shire's Indigenous history.

However, the original motion to council at its December meeting on Wednesday night had the recommended name being the Leeton Regional Swimming Pool.
At the meeting councillor Paul Smith suggested the name needed the word aquatic included, an idea the majority of other councillors agreed with.
Cr Smith said he felt having that word in there conveyed the idea that the facility was and will be more than just a swimming pool.
All councillors voted for the name to be the Leeton Regional Aquatic Centre with the exception of Tony Ciccia who cast his vote against the name.
Council received 53 formal submissions from the community regarding the name change. It says the redevelopment is scheduled for completion at the end of January.
More details on the opening date will be provided early in the new year.
