As these back pages will show you from July to September, The Irrigator reported on competitions that were starting to return following the easing of restrictions around community sport in the state.
It was a welcome relief for many clubs in the shire.
Leeton-Whitton had its mind set on the new AFL Riverina Championships, while the Phantoms entered its women's and second grade side into the Southern Inland shortened competition.
The second grade side went on to be undefeated all season before taking out the grand final.
Bowls was also back on the green as were the Leeton-Whitton Crows netballers who were back on court.
What shone through during this time was just how important community sport is to a town such as Leeton.
Not only is club sport and individual sports an important exercise in health and fitness, but coming together and having a goal to work towards is also a crucial part of community life.
Teams also gave residents plenty of reason to smile and a chance to get out of the house in a COVID-safe manner.
The Leeton-Whitton Crows were another highlight of this three-month period, making the grand final, but falling at the final hurdle to the Wagga Tigers.
