A woman has died after a single-vehicle crash in tragic news for the Riverina region.

About 1.45pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to the Newell Highway, about 15km south of Narrandera, following reports a vehicle had left the road and hit a tree.
Upon arrival, officers from Murrumbidgee Police District found the driver and passenger trapped.
They were both removed, before police commenced CPR on the passenger, a woman aged in her 50s, until the arrival of paramedics. They were unable to revive her and she died at the scene.

The driver, a 17-year-old girl, was taken to Wagga Base Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The Newell Highway remains closed in both directions between the Sturt Highway and Kidman Way.
Live Traffic states that diversions are in place and are suitable for all vehicles. The diversion will add about 30 minutes to the journey.
Northbound: From Jerilderie; Kidman Way to Darlington Point, Sturt Highway to Narrandera, and back to Newell Highway.
Southbound: From Narrandera; Sturt Hwy to Darlington Point, Kidman Way to Jerilderie, and back to Newell Highway.
