After the home side won the toss and elected to bat they were able to make a strong start with Anthony Craig and Jono Schofield putting plenty of runs on the board.
The pair were able to put on 75 at the halfway point of their innings, and the Colts were able to make the breakthrough they needed two overs later when Thomas Camm (1/30) picked up the wicket of Craig (34).
The wicket didn't have the effect the Colts would have desired as Jonathon Doyle joined Schofield out in the middle and they continued to pile on the runs.
It would be another 53 runs before the Soldiers Club side were able to break the partnership when Michael Keech found his way through Doyle's (22) defence.
Schofield was able to pass fifty at over a run a ball, but the scoring did slow in the final overs as Michael Keech (2/23) claimed the wicket of Jordan Camm (8) while Rob Keech (1/24) finally ended Schofield's (68) innings as the Carpheads closed their innings on 5/149.
The Colts needed to make a strong start if they were to keep the hopes of maintaining their undefeated start to the season.
Mark Burns and Michael Keech were able to make some early inroads scoring 29 off the first seven overs before Camm (1/9) had Keech (8) out caught behind.
Trouble really set in for the Colts when Hugh Collins (1) followed two overs later when he was caught by Schofield off the bowling of Cooper Irons.
The Colts would lose 3/2 as Matt Del Guzzo (1), and Matt Rhodes (1) also fell without troubling the scorers.
It was always going to be tough to recover, and the scoring rate was starting to get away from the Colts.
Irons (3/16) picked up his third of the afternoon when he found a way through the defences of Glen Vitnell (1).
Burns and Thomas Camm were able to put on 23 runs before Burns (47) was knocked over by David Cato just short of this fifty.
Camm (10*) finished unbeaten, but the Colts weren't able to match the rate required to finish on 6/84.
