Thirteen players took to the greens last Thursday on the opening day of play for 2021, with a game of fours and a game of triples.
In the game of fours, Lorraine Mullins, Patti Wakeman, Hilary Chambers and Jan Fitzpatrick, who were the drawn winners, defeated Dot Semmler, Jean Leighton, Faye Harris and Jan Fitzpatrick by one shot.
Semmler started out strong with a score of six on the second end, but Mullins slowly gained the points to draw even after 16 ends, and then went on to win the match 18-17.
IN OTHER NEWS:
In the other game of triples Joan Lloyd, Jan Walker and Marika Pete defeated Elaine Sullivan, Lorraine Messner and Jan Carroll.
Lloyd got the upper hand early, but Sullivan fought back to draw even on the 12th end. Lloyd after gaining six shots went on to win 18-13.
The district championships will commence on February 16 starting with the fours.
