The old rivals of Leeton and Griffith faced off in Warren Smith Cup on Sunday at Mark Taylor Oval, and it was the home team who were able to come out on top.
The Leeton side won the toss and elected to bat and was able to see off the opening bowlers before losing the wicket of Tyler O'Connell (2)when he was bowled by Ben Signor (1/24).
Noah Maybon and Blake McDonald look to put their heads down and see off the opening stages of the game before Noah Gaske was able to find the edge of Maybon (7)for a catch claimed by Jake Rand.
McDonald and Max Yelland were key to Leeton being able to reach a defendable total with plenty of time to work win.
The pair batted for 16 overs putting on 51 runs, before Yelland (34) went for one big shot too many and was bowled by Gaske (2/32).
Griffith was able to wrestle back some control with Rand (1/13) picking up the wicket of Darcey Cullen (3) while Ben Fattore (2/15) picked up Harvey Gay (5) and Tom Allen (9) with Mason Ashcroft (1/20) taking the key wicket of McDonald (25).
Archie Gay (19) added some late runs to see the Leeton side bowled out in the final over for 147.
Maybon made an immediate impact with the ball to pick up the wicket of Ashcroft (0) before Signor and Fattore looked to get their side back on track.
The second-wicket pairing but on 74 runs before Signor (34) was stumped off the bowling of McDonald, but Fattore tried to keep his side moving in the right direction.
Rand joined Fattore to put on 15 runs, but when Rand (5) fell to Cullen, and Gaske (0) became McDonald's (2/43) second victim, there was a slight wobble from the Griffith side.
Fattore (69) was able to post a half-century, but when he was caught off the bowling of Maybon, it was the beginning of the end for Griffith.
O'Connell (2/2), Maybon (3/23) and Harvey Gay (1/12) claimed the remaining wickets to see Griffith bowled out for 130 and give Leeton a 17-run win.
Both sides are in action again this weekend, with Leeton taking on South West Slopes while Griffith host Wagga Blue.
