In Wagga, a section of McNickle Road near the Wagga City Golf Club has been closed due to water over the road after a morning of constant rain.
The closure is from the Roach Road intersection to Edward Street and will remain in place until the water subsides.
Elsewhere in the Riverina, the Olympic Highway has been closed near Young due to flooding, with both directions shut on the way to Cowra.
In other news
The Newell Highway is closed between Back Creek, east of West Wyalong, through to Forbes due to flooding.
Goldfields Way is closed in both directions between West Wyalong and Temora near Barmedman.
Diversions are in place sending southbound traffic from West Wyalong along the Newell Highway to Burley Griffin Way, and northbound from Temora along the same route.
Several other roads in the Bland Shire have been closed including Quandialla Road, Mary Gilmore Way East, Tallimba Road at the Sports Club corner and Evans Street.
In the Temora Shire, Burley Griffin Way is closed between Temora and Wallendbeen and Mary Gilmore Way is closed between Ariah Park and Barmedman and Barmedman and Grenfell.
The NSW Education Department has listed Barmedman Public School as 'non-operational' as a result of the flooding.
LiveTraffic has issued an alert for Burley Griffin Way between Temora and Ariah Park, with drivers urged to use extreme caution with water over the road at various places along the stretch.
Trungley Hall Road, Bartondale Road, Morangarell Road and Grogan Road north of Milvale Road are also closed in the shire.
A number of local roads in the Carrathool Shire are also closed due to flooding.
As Wagga continues to see heavy rainfall, the city has managed to avoid a severe weather warning issued for much of the state.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued the warning for the entire east coast, with heavy rainfall and flash flooding forecast as far inland as the South West Slopes.
It comes as more than 18,000 people across eastern NSW have already been evacuated due to a widespread flooding emergency along the coast, with conditions expected to continue until Wednesday.
In Wagga, 33 millimetres of rain was recorded in the city in the 24 hours to 9am Tuesday with 50.4mm recorded in 72 hours at the airport.
West Wyalong recorded the biggest rainfall in the region with 122.8mm in the 72 hours to 9am.
Wagga SES unit commander Jason McDonell said there had been very few callouts in Wagga so far, but volunteers were on standby to assist up north if required.
"We also have to be mindful that Wagga's going to receive a lot of rain as well, it's a balancing effort," he said.
Members of the Wagga Volunteer Rescue Association have already arrived on the east coast.
Rainfall between 20mm and 40mm is predicted for today, with a 40 per cent chance of more showers on Wednesday as the weather begins to clear.
