Bree, a St Joseph's Primary School student, is continuing to carve up the basketball court.

Earlier this term Bree represented the Wagga diocese at the NSW Catholic Primary Schools MacKillop basketball trials in Wollongong.

Here she competed against teams from other dioceses, including Canberra/Goulburn, Parramatta, Sydney and Wollongong.

Bree's skills on the court meant she gained plenty of attention and was successful in being one of 10 players selected in the MacKillop team to compete at the 2021 NSWPSSA Girls Basketball State Championships at Penrith from June 1 to 3.

"I was really excited when I was selected," Bree said.

"I've been training myself to prepare, but we will probably have team training at some stage. I play basketball with the Leeton Eagles (representative) and in the town comp as well.

"I usually am position one - the ball carrier on the court. I really like it.

"I like how basketball is a team sport and you get to know everyone really well. It's a fun sport."

Bree was also recently successful in being chosen to participate in the Basketball NSW under 13s Talented Athlete Program, which will feature a camp in Sydney next month.

She's looking forward to both this camp, as well as the state championships in June.

"It will definitely be different to what I am used to playing," Bree said.

"I think because there will be girls I have played with before, I think we will know how each other plays and so we should go okay.

"It's going to be a pretty high standard."

"I'd love to play professionally one day for sure," Bree said.

"I just love playing basketball.

"I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. I'll just play and keep having fun."
