The church's bell, which likely dates back more than 100 years, has been saved and restored by Leeton's Tim Eurell.
Mr Eurell spent much of his recent free time restoring the bell, which has now been successfully installed at the St Peter's Anglican Church in Leeton.
Located in the church's bell tower, it is in full working order.
"We're not too sure on the bell's exact history, but we do know it was at St John's longer than anyone can remember," Father Robert Murphy from St Peter's in Leeton said.
"The church was 135 years when it was closed last year, so who knows how long the bell has been there?
IN OTHER NEWS:
"One of the unique things about this bell was when it was at Whitton, it was on a old railway post, which is a nice connection with Whitton behind a railway town.
"I would say it was a school bell style as it has the school bell mounted frame."
Mr Eurell also gave the bell a good clean as part of the restoration process, saying it was an interesting process.
"It has come up really well," he said.
"The history hasn't been lost and it's now being used for its original purpose, which I think is really great."
Father Robert also extended his thanks to Whitton resident Tracy Catlin for her assistance with the project.

"Tracy has used her connections and resources to get the bell down from its original post, which was not a simple job at all," he said.
"It was quite the task getting it down."
The bell has been installed in Leeton for about a month now, with residents now able to enjoy its sound along with the original bell that has been located within St Peter's bell tower for many decades itself.
