The route, which launched earlier this year, will now provide a double-daily service with 14 return flights each week.

The announcement means that from May 24, there will be both morning and evening Qantas flights to Sydney from Griffith (and vice-versa) every day of the week.

The flights from Griffith to Sydney will be each day at 9:50am and 5:05pm and the flights from Sydney to Griffith will be at 8am and 3:20pm.

QantasLink CEO John Gissing said the route was being upgraded due to a high demand for tickets.

"We've seen very strong demand for our Griffith flights since we first launched the service in March," Mr Gissing said.

"It's fantastic to see the local community has really supported this route and we're pleased to be able to respond by adding more flights to give them more choice about when they travel."

The flights will be operated by a combination of Qantas' 50-seat Q300 and 36-seat Q200 turboprop aircrafts.

Flights between Griffith and Sydney were previously only offered by Regional Express Airlines.

Mr Gissing said he was pleased Qantas was bringing "much needed competition" to the route.

Last week, EastWest Airlines announced it will investigate the possibility of upgrading it's Melbourne-Griffith service, potentially bringing back weekend flights.
