While the project appears complete, further work by technicians including installing and testing equipment is necessary.
COVID-19 travel restrictions between states have meant the completion date initially forecast for the project has extended out to July this year.

"Once up a running, a new state-of-the-art digital receiver and control system will deliver improved reporting of location and strength of wind changes, rain image quality, improved severe storm prediction by detecting systems such as hail, microburst storms or tornadoes and rain intensity," Member for Farrer Sussan Ley said.
The radar will cover an area ranging from Leeton, Hay and Narrandera in the south, Ivanhoe in the north-west and Condobolin, Ungarie and West Wyalong in the east.
