The sides went in level at 0-0 at the break before Tumut was able to take the lead after some fortune fell their way.
The home side played a long ball forward that was miscontrolled by the United defence, and after a ricochet and it went to a Tumut striker who was able to find the back of the net.
The United side was able to kick into gear after the goal went in, with Henri Gardener finding the equaliser, but despite peppering the goal, they were unable to find the breakthrough needed to take the three points.
Leeton United coach Frank Alampi was left feeling frustrated with his side's execution in front of goal.
"We missed about 10 one-on-ones and missed three without anyone there, the goal was open, and we missed that one as well," he said.

"They scored one on the counter, and then we got one back and then just peppered them but their goalkeeper was just brilliant."
While the finishing left a lot to be desired, Alampi said there were some bright phases of play where the side was able to show some of their best.
"We played some good stuff, and our intensity went up four or five gears once they scored," he said.
It wasn't good enough and we deserved a draw because we just didn't finish
- United coach Frank Alampi
" Even though we were only in second or third gear, we opened them up heaps, and we played some really good football, but we just didn't take our chances, and when you don't take your chances it is just going to happen.
"It wasn't good enough, and we deserved a draw because we just didn't finish.
"There is no point yelling at the boys. Our finishing was just horrendous. They know they could have done better, but what do you do, it isn't the end of the world."
There was another concern to come out of the game with Adam Raso picking up a knock on his ankle and knee.
