The nationally accredited course is usually $120 and is designed and delivered by paramedics to educate and inform motorcyclists about the inherent risk that they face on the roads.
According to Rider Down, motorcyclists are more exposed when using roads than any other vehicle and subsequently experience higher risk of injury or fatality as they are less protected in a crash.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"We are putting the knowledge gained by professionals and the military into the hands of those who can save lives in the first three to five minutes," a spokesperson for Rider Down said.
The course aims to provided motorcyclists who are involved or witness a crash the skills and knowledge needed to apply prompt medical intervention in emergency situations before emergency services arrive.
The course also trains course attendees to 'Stop the Bleed', a Rider Down initiative that is supported by the newly revised Australian Resuscitation Guidelines and licensed by the US Department of Defence, homeland security.
"It will be the person closest to you that may be the only one who can 'stop the bleed' fast enough," they said.
Actions such as these can often save lives and decrease injury severely.
The course runs for approximately four and a half hours on Saturday June 5 at the Emergency Operations Centre in Narrandera and once complete attendees will receive a statement of attendance.
