Previously, residents would submit development applications by posting or dropping off hard copies to the council.
Now, residents will be able to use the NSW Planning Portal, an all in one digital space where community, industry and government come together.
The portal also contains a comprehensive collection of resources that can assist applicants and developers - including Quick Reference Guides, fact sheets, useful links and more.
Council's planning, building and health manager Francois Van Der Berg said that the portal would provide users a single platform that was easy and effective to use for planning processes and transactions.
"The new online portal enables people to access planning services and information from anywhere, at any time," Mr Van Der Berg said.

According to council, the new online portal is also expected to improve application determination times, increase the transparency of the planning system and ensure greater accountability of all stakeholders.
"This system is much for convenient than the paper based transactions, with applicants being able to submit and track their applications 24 hours a day, seven days a week."
For community members wanting to learn more about the many uses of the portal, or how to use it when needed, council will be hosting information sessions on Wednesday June 9 between 5:30pm and 6:30pm and Friday June 18 between 11am and 1pm at the council chambers.
Bookings are required and can be made by emailing karent@leeton.nsw.gov.au or by calling 6953 0927.
