At a special match on June 2, Leonie Pullen and Judy McLane from Can Assist were presented with the cheque by Secretary and Treasurer, Kevin Hansen which members of the bowls team had all contributed to from their team kitty over the past year.
Mr Hansen said that the team liked to donate to charity every year, but the main stipulation in the team was that the funds stay local.
"Can Assist Leeton helps so many members of our community so we wanted to support them in a tangible way," Mr Hansen said.
Leonie Pullen is a volunteer at Can Assist and said that the players, and by extension the community were wonderful in their support of the work they do to support those undergoing treatment for cancer, and all the logistics and expenses that accompanied it.
"This town is so unbelievable for supporting us and supporting local charities," Ms Pullen said.
"We really have a good mob of guys here on the team," Mr Hansen said.
