These students have tirelessly turning up to each and every rehearsal, ensuring they know their cues for lighting, props, helping cast members get in and out of costume quickly and moving onstage sets seamlessly out of the way for smooth transitions from scene to scene in the show.
Year 11 students Jhie Deaton and Jonathan Sherlock have been learning how to program lighting for the show, practicing a range of performance ready techniques such as shuttering, fades and projection to bring the stage to life.
Previously both boys have had experience working on performing arts showcases at the school, however Shrek the Musical will put their lighting expertise to the test.
"It's going to be a challenge but practice makes perfect," Jhie said.
"Whilst what we are learning is technically difficult, we are all excited to give the performers a chance to really shine," Jonathan said.
The lighting team also has some very special surprises up its sleeves that they say will have to be seen to be believed.
Meanwhile, Luka Deaton, Jessica Wells and Shallan Stockton are working hard on the sides of the stage to support all of the performers.
And whilst all three noted that they weren't big performers themselves, they were more than happy to be part of the musical and give their time in an unseen, yet equally important way.
"It's really fun to be in, just a great experience," Luka said.
"I have always sat in the crowd so thought why not get involved this time," Shallan said.
"We have a really important role making sure we are writing down all our cues based of the scripts which is stressful but I am proud of how hard we are all working together," Jessica said.
Rebecca Van De Heuval said that the roles that the backstage crew played were invaluable.
"Even though these students won't be visibly seen by the audience during the production, they play a massive role in bringing our adaption of Shrek the Musical to life," Mrs De Heauval said.
"It's really the most ambitious show that we have ever done, it is crazy!"
All of the students noted that they didn't just love Shrek as a movie and pop culture icon, but for its messages of friendship and acceptance no matter who you are or what you look like.
Performances will be held on June 22 at 11.30am, June 23 at 11.30am and 7.30pm and June 24 at 7pm.
