The Mallee Men knew taking on the Hawks side, who have had a tough start to the season, would give them a chance to maintain the gap to the top of the table and were able to make a good start.
They were able to score the first two tries, with Dayne Ewings scoring the second before the Hawks were able to hit back.
It was another two tries to the Mallee Men with Ewings crossing for his second.
