United headed east to play the Young Lions on their home turf. Young previously four points ahead of Leeton United on the ladder but now just one point separates the teams as they sit in third and fourth.
Coach Frank Alampi said that the game was a tough win, and whilst the team was happy with the result, the second half saw a significant lapse in control of the ball.
Stewart Smith scored the first goal, a good finish from about 25 yards.
Henri Gardner scored the second, which his brother Fred Gardner helped set up down the left side of the field.
"The second half of the match wasn't as good as I would have liked," Alampi said.
"We didn't do the things we did in the first half, didn't keep the ball well enough which wasn't what we had planned for the match at all."
United's players defended well and created plenty of opportunities, however unfortunately not all of the set ups or opportunities translated to any further goals throughout the match.
The team has a bye this week over the long weekend, and will face Cootamundra on Sunday June 20 in the next round of competition.
The Strikers currently languish in last place on the ladder, however that won't be an excuse to cruise.
"We still have a lot to work on to put us back in the mix," Alampi said.
