The A grade and A reserve coach said the Crows were always going to be in for an uphill battle against the first-placed Goannas.
A grade went down to MCUE 78-27, while A reserve also lost 52-24.
"Mango are on top in both grades ... they are the gold standard of the competition," McCallum said.
"It was a bit of a flogging in the end, but that's okay, hopefully we learn from it and improve."
Both senior sides were missing several of their players on the weekend.
While the scoreline did blow out in the end, McCallum said she was pleased to see her team keep their heads and their cool.
"Everyone kept their attitude positive and kept trying hard, which is all I can ask for," she said.
However, for this weekend's crucial outing against Wagga Tigers, the Crows are expecting to have full squads in both A grade and A reserve.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"That's something we haven't been able to say in a long time," McCallum said.
"It will be nice to have everyone back on deck again.
"We've had players missing just through injury, they've been sick or other commitments, so it does become a bit of a juggle trying to manage both teams."
Leeton-Whitton were able to just sneak home against the Tigers during their round one clash earlier this season, taking the win by just one goal.
A reserve finished with a draw.
"I think we can take a lot of confidence into our games this weekend knowing that we can match it with them ... I think we have only improved since round one, so hopefully we can come away with a win," McCallum said.
Victory is particularly important for A grade, who need to start stringing together consistent wins in order to cement a place in the top five ahead of finals.
Saturday's matches will be played at Robertson Oval.
