After 54 years as a veterinarian and 48 of those here in Leeton, Dr Brian Munro is now focusing on retiring.
Brian took over the ownership of Leeton Veterinary Hospital in 1983 from Dr David Rees, who first began the practice in 1960 and, this year, Dr Peter Brunsdon is taking over the ownership from Brian.
Brian's passion for animals and their care began as a young boy.
He dreamed as a young lad of owning and running his own sheep station.
Although that dream didn't eventuate, his dream of becoming a veterinarian did.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Graduating from Sydney University in 1967, Brian first began practising in Victoria before heading overseas with his wife Jan and their baby girl, Shelley, to work in the UK for a couple of years.
Upon their return to Australia, they came to Leeton for work and loved the town so much that they decided to settle here.
After several more years, a second daughter, Lisa, completed their young family.
In addition to his veterinary work, Brian has been an active member of the community.
He has been on various committees including Apex, Leeton Show Society, Leeton Business Chamber and the Rotary Club of Leeton to name a few.
Peter first began his career as a new graduate here in Leeton with Brian in 1984 after graduating from Sydney Uni.
After a few years here in Leeton, Peter then went onto gain experiences at other practices before settling in Tumbarumba as the owner of the Tumbarumba Vet Clinic.
He sold this practice just a few years ago and, after returning here as a locum for the past couple of years, he has decided to purchase the practice from Brian.
Best wishes for your retirement Brian.
Thank you for your care and service to all the furry, feathered and finned critters.
May you now have time to enjoy the finer things in life.
