The Greens have spent the week regrouping after they were defeated by the Black and Whites, having now put that loss behind them to focus on their next challenge.
Leeton will host the Yenda Blueheelers on Sunday afternoon at No. 1 Oval, with Philp confident the team will rebound to get back on the board again.
"All the boys have gotten together at training and they are really hungry for this weekend and to show improvement again," he said.
"We know we were definitely in it last weekend, we just fell asleep for about 20 minutes there, which gave them the momentum.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"It will be interesting to see how the boys come out this weekend and how they perform."
Leeton remain on top of the Group 20 first grade ladder, with the Blueheelers currently sixth.
The home side will likely be without Beau Routley, who injured his shoulder in last week's clash, while Philp was waiting to see how Kirtis Fisher pulled up following a knee to the ribs in the blockbuster match.
With the Greens having gone undefeated up until last weekend, Philp said going down did have its silver linings.
"I think it showed we can't afford to be complacent," he said.
"I know the boys will now wake up and realise every game is one we can't afford to lose."
Last time Leeton and Yenda met was in round two when the Greens recorded a 32-4 victory.
Philp was expecting to come up against a side hungry to knock off a top team.
"Yenda have definitely improved from what I can see," the coach said.
"They've won a couple of games and had a tight one against West Wyalong, who aren't a weak side.
"We'll be in for a big game this week and Yenda will definitely be up for the challenge. It will be massive."
Philp said the side would be focusing on getting the basics right and playing consistent football across the entire match.
"Just getting to a kick and keeping it very basic ... playing basic footy is what we need to do," he said.
