My Plan Connect's goal of helping people has been eclipsed in first 12 months

My Plan Connect started in Leeton in 2020 to help assist people with disabilities and the association challenges with having a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan.

The simple idea has been to bring these plans to life in the best way possible.

Last year the organisation opened a home in Valencia Street that provides a place for activities, respite care and much more.

At that time there was a handful of staff helping to provide each individual with tailored care through a range of activities, life skills and more.

Fast forward to now and My Plan Connect now has 30 staff members employed throughout Leeton, Griffith, Narrandera and Wagga.

Its operations are continuining to grow and so too the number of people being helped to enjoy life in the community in an inclusive way.

My Plan Connect now has its own offices in Kurrajong Avenue that also provide space for things such as yoga, sessions with occupational therapists and other health care providers, early intervention, places to learn, relax, spend time together, adventures of all kinds and much more.

My Plan Connect director Jodie Ryan said she continued to be amazed every day at what was being achieved by both staff and individuals taking up the services.

"It's all still a work in progress ... we have a lot happening," she said.

"The feedback we've been receiving is just amazing.

"The youngest participant (client) we have is two-years-old and our oldest is 68, which is pretty cool.

"We're also doing a lot with the nursing homes.

"We're trying to cover as many areas as possible to give all of our participants a sense of belonging to the community in so many different ways.

"It's all about inclusivity and working with the community on this as well.

"We're also really starting to focus on mental health as part of what we do too with our recovery coaches."

With ideas continuing to brim and the skill set of staff expanding, there's no stopping when it comes to implementing revolutionary programs to ensure all gaps are filled when it comes to assisting people living with disabilities.
