The Greens raced to a 50-18 win on Saturday afternoon at Yanco Sportsground after making the most of a good start in the first half.
Leeton were on the board early and looked to be in control from the get-go.
A sizable crowd turned out for the battle, with every bone-crunching tackle and contact heard from the sideline in what is always a hard-fought contest between the two sides.
Greens coach Hayden Philp was pleased to get the points on the board early, saying his side did seem to take the pedal off after half-time.
The derby also marked Leeton's last game of the home and away season as they now sit out this weekend with the club bye before finals get underway.
"It was good to finish off the season with a win," Philp said.
"We had a pretty good first half.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Everything seemed to go our way a bit, the first 30 minutes anyway.
"It became a closer contest after that,"
The Greens had plenty of players contribute to the final tally, with Cameron Breust also converting six of their tries throughout the afternoon.
The other conversion for the Greens came from George Broome.
Petero Taitusi, Jamaine Morgan and Aukusitino Simeti all crossed the line for Yanco-Wamoon.
Philp gave full credit to the Hawks for pushing the Greens on Saturday saying it was a tough contest.
"We made a lot of errors in that second half and the Hawkies definitely lifted into another gear in that second half," he said.
"I think with the hotter weather we were probably a bit fatigued, as well as from the week before after a tough match against West Wyalong.
"It's good for us to have the bye this weekend so we can freshen up and prepare for finals."
Training will continue as usual this week, but likely with a focus on recovery and further bonding together as a team before the hard work kicks straight back in the following week.
"It's going to do a few of the boys with injuries the world of good to have the week off and get right before finals," Philp said.
One of those is Shannon Bradbrook who appeared to re-injure his knee early in the first half.
Saturday's match also included a minute silence for the late Marie Travers before the first grade game kicked off.
