However, drivers can expect to still see a police presence on the roads and fines will still be dished out if motorists are found to be breaking the law.
Leeton Shire Council's road safety officer Steph Puntoriero said fines would be applied to speeding, seatbelt, and motorcycle helmet offences, and can result in immediate license suspensions.
"With the warmer weather bringing many riders onto our roads, we would particularly like to remind motorcyclists ... and remind other roads users to remember to 'check twice for bikes'," Mrs Puntoriero said.
"With 196 people killed on NSW roads since the start of the year, we need people to understand that speeding and unsafe behaviour can kill and there are consequences for breaking the law.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Drivers should not be complacent. There will be extra police patrols over the holiday weekend and remember there is no such thing as safe speeding.
"We are calling on everyone on our roads to use commonsense and err on the side of caution.
"Taking risks can lead to tragic consequences.
"Don't speed, don't drink and drive, or illegally use your mobile phone. You're putting the lives of yourself and others at risk and you'll face stiff penalties when caught."
The next double demerit period is scheduled to commence during the summer holidays, from December 24 to January 3 inclusive.
