One particular session last Monday was the making of hot air balloons out of tissue paper and watching them float above to the top of the library's roof.
"With simple supplies of tissue paper, masking tape and a glue stick children were able to choose the colour and design of their balloons," Leeton library co-ordinator Fiona Stevens said.
"Cutting out the pieces and gluing it all together took about one-and-a-half hours and then the fun and excitement of filling the balloons with hot air and letting them float to the ceiling was experienced by kids and parents."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Stephen Hill, a retired science teacher, led the session and told Mrs Stevens he had used the tissue paper hot air balloon exercise to teach many aspects of scientific theory, but said the most important thing was to create a sense of fun and wonder.
Other activities over the course of the past fortnight included crocheting, other science experiments, art classes, take home mystery craft bags and more.
The library is continuing to offer a range of programs for all ages and is hoping to reach even more members of the community in the months ahead as it develops new initiatives.
