Week one last week got away to a positive start, according to Jackson Goman from the Leeton Touch Association.
"Lots of teams were able to get back together and participate in the social, fun competition that we have," he said.
"Our men's and women's competition on Monday evening is down a couple of teams.
"(There are) nine men's teams and 11 women's teams. It was nice to begin with a cooler night to settle back into the physical activity."
On Thursdays competition begins with the year 7/8 competition, which has six boys teams and six girls teams this year.
This is followed by the primary school competitions with over 60 K-2 players and over 70, 3-6 players.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"There was so much enthusiasm from these juniors to get in and have a go," Goman said.
"The evening concludes with the mixed competition, which is also down a few teams from last year, but still has 18 teams, which creates an excellent, enjoyable atmosphere for all participants."
Goman said there were some adjustments to be made regarding adhering to the public health order like checking in, showing proof of double vaccination status and maintaining social distancing, which has created additional pressure on the small committee.
"However, participants and spectators have been co-operative which is pleasing," he said.
The association is also hoping to soon hold trials for their junior representative teams so squads can be formed and training can begin.
The teams will compete at the NSW Junior State Cup in Wagga in February.
"There seems to be a bit more interest this year," Goman said.
"We sent two teams away last year and the year prior to that, so we might be able to expand further.
"In order to do that we need parents and volunteers to step up and become accredited in roles such as refereeing and coaching, which is also a challenge.
"Once we get squads, we will also look to see what other junior events we could attend in the lead up to the Junior State Cup event."
