Outgoing councillor Peter Davidson chose not to contest the local government election this year after 11 years in the position.
He attended his final council meeting in November where he was presented with a local government NSW (LGNSW) merit award.
The LGNSW award demonstrates appreciation of commitment and dedication to the pursuit of achievement for the community of a local government in NSW as a member of Leeton Shire Council.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Cr Davidson was involved as a long-serving member on many committees including council's Leeton Tree Advisory Committee, Leeton Weeds Committee, Infrastructure Working Group and CBD Enhancement Advisory Committee.
He has also been an advocate for the farming and agribusiness sector, was a key driver behind the shire's entry signs and was the main proponent for Leeton's electronic noticeboard at the entry of town.
Speaking at his last ordinary meeting, Cr Davidson said it has been his honour to serve the community.
"This is my last meeting as councillor and I am pleased to have worked with such a cohesive and constructive group of councillors and members of staff over the past 11 years," he said.
"It has been a privilege to serve my community and I also take this opportunity to thank my family for their support throughout."
