On Wednesday it was announced two people from the Leeton local government area had tested positive for COVID-19.
This is the first time since the pandemic began that Leeton has recorded any cases. However, the shire's sewerage system has twice detected fragments of the virus this year.
The shire has been part of lockdown measures, restrictions and rules throughout this time, but residents have been urged not to panic.
The shire's vaccination rates sit at 90 per cent first dose and 90 per cent second dose.
However, residents with any symptoms of the virus have been encouraged to get tested. Several facilities in Griffith are available during the festive period.
With the Murrumbidgee Local Health District no longer reporting on where cases are located or exposure sites, residents can keep up-to-date with case numbers simply by using their Service NSW app and searching their postcode in the COVID-19 resources section.
To make a booking for a test, contact the MLHD COVID-19 hotline on 1800 831 099.
