A 22-year-old Leeton man faces serious charges following an alleged break-in and assault on Christmas morning at a home in the State's Murrumbidgee region.

Police say at about 5am on Christmas Day (Saturday), a 26-year-old Leeton man requested people leave his home. The man's father attended the property in Cassia Road and again asked them to leave, to which they complied.
About 11am that day, police say the 26-year-old was woken by three males inside his home on Cassia Road. It will be alleged he was hit several times with a baseball bat.
Police will further alleged two of the males held the man while the third man continued the assault.
Police say the man fled to a friend's house and NSW Ambulance paramedics were contacted. Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District were notified and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home on Acacia Avenue, Leeton, about 8.30am on Tuesday, December 28 and arrested a 22-year-old man.
During the search, police allegedly seized cannabis and methylamphetamine, an electronic stun device, as well as clothing and a vehicle.
The 22-year-old was taken to Leeton Police Station where he was charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence - wound, and aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence - inflict actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear in Griffith Local Court on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Police inquiries are continuing.
