At about midday on Sunday police were attending a premises on Blackwood Street on an unrelated matter, when they saw a 24-year-old male they had reason to speak to.
Police allege he was seen to place an item in a pot plant as police were walking towards him.
Upon investigation of the plant, police located a small clear container with a clear crystal substance believed to be Methamphetamine.
He was arrested and charged with possession of prohibited drug and supply of prohibited drug.
He was refused bail and will be appearing in Griffith Court on Monday.
In other news, Chief Inspector John Wadsworth has prompted the MIA community to be mindful of locking doors and closing windows.
He said thieves are opportunistic, especially at this time of year with heat tempting people to leave doors and windows open.
“I would say these incidents are quite usual,” he said.
“Because it is extremely hot, residents tend to leave windows open, and others see an opportunity. Criminals work around the clock and will take advantage of anything they see.”
“There is nothing to indicate they know people are at home, it appears opportunistic, so I encourage everyone to remain vigilant, and to make sure you lock doors and security screens.”
The warning comes after several homes in the MIA were broken into with residents still at home.
