The relay passed through Narrandera and Griffith and, while Leeton was skipped, the pair did the shire proud.
Both were nominated and then selected to take part with their legs of the relay happening in Narrandera on Sunday.
Mr Harrison is an old hand of the relay, having been a torch bearer for the Sydney Olympic Games, as well as a further two times for the Commonwealth Games.
Not only that, but he has also competed in the 1976 Olympics in Montreal and two Commonwealth Games in 1974 add 1978 in the pistol events.
Speaking before the relay, the stalwart said Sunday’s experience was again one he would cherish forever.
It’s a huge honour,” Mr Harrison said.
“(I still) found it hard to sleep the night before.
“It’s very exciting to be selected to take part.”
For young Kiara, the nerve-wracking experience paid off, with her family and friends there cheering her on.
Kiara was the youngest baton bearer during the Narrandera leg of the relay.
Her mother Theresa said it had been a fun and thrilling experience for her daughter.
“She had a good time and it was a really good experience (for her),” Mrs Pham said.
The relay was also in Wagga and Griffith on Sunday, with many perplexed as to why Leeton was skipped when the town’s were initially announced prior to the event happening.
Many commented on social media asking why that had been the case, including Leeton resident Alison Egan.
“I don't understand how the relay can move from Narrandera to Griffith and not pass through Leeton?” she asked.
“Surely there's been an opportunity missed here.”
The Commonwealth Games will start on the Gold Coast in April.
