It has been a steady process to build the numbers up for the side in 2018 after losing several players to university and other responsibilities.
However, a steady stream of young talent is coming up the ranks and McGregor is confident the team will be in tip top shape ahead of the season opener against Yenda.
It is McGregor’s first time coaching the senior side, but a challenge she is taking seriously.
“We’re looking pretty good,” she said.
“For a while there I wasn’t sure we would have the numbers … we’re getting about 15 at training now though.
“There’s some young juniors coming up and we’ve got a couple of players who haven’t played before, so it’s a bit of a mix.”
Much of the pre-season training has been focused on basic skills and fitness.
“I want to make sure we get that right, especially since we’ve got a couple of new players,” McGregor said.
The Greens league tag side has long been a powerhouse of the Group 20 competition.
This year the team will be taking it one week and game at a time as they progress through the season.
McGregor has coached junior teams before and is looking forward to taking her skills to the next level also.
Having played league tag for about six or seven seasons, she said it is a sport everyone can enjoy.
“It’s a fun sport to play and it’s just a good team sport,” she said.

“As a team we’ve always gelled really well and been really close friends.
“I like that aspect of it as well.”
The Greens played in the recent Group 20 knockout where they won of their two matches.
They have also had a hit out against Albury.
“It’s been good to be able to have a look and see where we are at,” McGregor said.
“Everyone is looking forward to the season starting.”
