Leeton Shire Council has offered the Leeton United Football Club an interest free loan to help replace the damaged equipment to ensure youngsters can continue playing this season.
A temporary “bandage” solution of polyurethane pipes was put in place to see out the 2017 season due to the vandalism attacks on the junior goals last year.
Every weekend hundreds of junior players take to the town ovals to play, with mayor Paul Maytom pleased council could support the club.
“The Leeton United Football Club are dedicated to fostering a positive pathway for their junior players and they are very active in promoting and supporting participation in the sport,” he said.

“The number of young people in our shire and from neighbouring towns you see playing soccer on Saturday mornings during the football season is true testament to the great work this club is doing to further promote the sport.”
The interest free loan will be paid back in three installments of $2000 per year, commencing in the 2019-20 financial year with the loan provided by council totaling $6000 and the total project cost being $12,500.
United club president Rod Harrison was hopeful vandals would steer clear of the precinct and not ruin the sport for the youngsters.
“We thank council for their support over the many years of soccer in Leeton,” he said.
“With their support many kids and adults benefit from having such a great facility at our local town ovals for all the community to use.”
