United’s women’s team travelled to Rawlings Park in Wagga for an early-morning battle with Tolland, who had previously beaten them 11-0 in round one.
Cold weather and thick fog made the game even harder with visibility so poor it was impossible to see the other end of the pitch.
LUFC started the game with a defensive structure, aiming to shut down the fast Tolland strikers.
Eiley Armida and Jessica Bunt worked well together in defence, stopping Tolland’s strikers from playing the long ball past the defensive line of LUFC.

“Unfortunately, Tolland’s attack was too strong and a high ball in the first half managed to find its way over goal keeper Katie Burley’s hands to find the back of the net,” coach Mark Powter said.
After the break, Courtney Smith, Eliza Armida, Megan Castle and Catherine Gray pushed hard against the Tolland defence, managing to have several shots on goal.
However, another late push from Tolland had them secure a goal, with the final result 2-0 in their favour.
“Spectators and even the Tolland coach made mention of how much (we) have improved since round one,” Powter said.
“Their exceptional team work and dedication to training has allowed the LUFC women to improve significantly in a short space of time.
“The girls should be really proud of themselves.”
This week they play Junee.
