We’ve become a society so infatuated with what is deemed to be “politically correct” or not in most cases that it’s a likely conclusion we’re tearing our hair out over nothing.
Of course there are some issues worth being outraged about, but in other cases, people really need to let go and not let everything bother them.
It’s no wonder people these days are so stressed and anxious.
Most of us are too busy worrying about what the person next to us is doing and how we can do it better – or better yet turning on the television to be hit with whatever it is in today’s news cycle that we should have our knickers in a knot over.
I’m not saying there isn’t a time and place to be passionate and marching for the cause.
There’s certainly a lot of movements out there supporting, but the fact is we have become a society to worried about the small issues, we no longer care about the big issues.
Pages on Facebook where residents turn to vent their outrage are often good for a laugh because of the things people are concerned about.
We’ve become so immune to what the real matters at hand are (you know, people are still dying of starvation and lack of proper medical care in third world countries – or you know there’s still wars going on, but I’ll just be over here reading about how Australians are verbally abusing supermarket staff over the plastic bag ban).
Come on people.
It’s definitely fine to have an opinion. but perhaps that’s as far as we should take it.
We don’t need to be shoving our thoughts down people’s throats if it’s not something they don’t want to hear or disagree with.
There’s no point getting hot headed over the small stuff. We should be channelling that energy into doing some good.
If we look a little closer there’s a lot to be happy about, we don’t need to nitpick everything.
We’re here for a short time, not a long time. Better we make it worthwhile for not just ourselves, but the people around us and their sanity.
But hey, that’s just my thoughts.
Feel free to disagree (you’re certainly allowed to).
God bless democracy.
