Jack Evans and Vula Wate recently competed at separate state championships and both said the games were tough, but they were able to learn plenty of new skills as a result.
Jack represented the Riverina at the boys open Rugby League State Championships in Mudgee, while Vula strapped on his boots for the under 11s event in Kingscliff.
“It was a really great experience,” Jack said.
“I liked being able to play against the tough sides and also making new friends.”

Jack’s side finished sixth in their pool, while Vula’s Riverina team was unlucky not to win any matches.
Many of the matches had tight scorelines, including an 8-6 loss to Hunter and an 8-4 defeat at the hands of North West Sydney.
“It was so hard,” Vula said.
“There’s a lot of really good players.”
The pair are both dreaming of one day playing in the NRL.
“That would be pretty cool … I hope so,” Vula said.
